San Francisco

A CITY OF THE PAST, PRESENT & FUTURE

Frank Lloyd Wright probably said it best: “What I like best about San Francisco is San Francisco.” Is there a more correct sentiment about this amazing city? How do you even begin to summarize a city that has been successfully combining disparate elements for nearly 250 years?

From immigrant-founded brands that have become a definitive part of American culture to cutting-edge companies predicting the future of climate and commerce, San Francisco is a city where the past, present and future intermingle to create things that can only be described as uniquely San Franciscan.

Episodes

Ep. 1 – Craig

There is no doubt that Craig Simmons, Chief of People at Jupiter Intelligence, embodies the spirit of San Francisco. As a fourth generation San Franciscan, Craig shares a bold message for the leaders of today...and the leaders we will need for tomorrow.

Ep. 2 – Carol

A few years ago Carol Danoff posted a plea on LinkedIn: “Please be human.” Carol shares her perspective on the growing rise of Asian hate crimes in America and how the leaders at Sephora are countering racism and bias by fostering an environment of psychological safety and belonging.

Ep. 3 – Tracy

Tracy Layney has had a long and successful career in HR, but it hasn't been without its challenges. She currently holds the CHRO seat at Levi Strauss & Co., one of the most iconic and progressive brands not only in San Francisco, but in the world. Fierce and genuine, Tracy doesn't mince words when it comes to where the business community needs to be focusing its efforts.

Ep. 4 – AJ

AJ Thomas is a Chaos Pilot and Head of Talent at X, Moonshot Factory, as well as a philanthropist and coach. If that wasn’t enough, she also co-authored a children’s book, Courage Takes Flight, with her daughter. AJ shares the courage it took for her to release her old identity as a first-generation immigrant during her U.S. Citizenship Ceremony...and the battle cry she has since adopted.
