“How are we preparing managers to try and keep that connectivity going? Because one thing I’ve realized is that if you do all of your communication via email, that can be interpreted in many, many different ways…and that’s when we have hurt feelings, we have misinterpretation. This is when somebody now feels like they don’t have a very good working relationship with the sender.

“Let’s utilize the tools that we have. Let’s have encouraging team meetings. But guess what? Turn your cameras on, because everybody has their cameras off. Let’s see one another. And most importantly, don’t make the meetings all about business: try to sprinkle in some personal. Not way too much personal, but something. Let’s make it more about them than just the business part of it. It’s not a one-and-done delivery of the message. We have to continue to reinforce it and remind them.”
